Synergy™ is a powerful mycorrhizal fungus (Glomus iranicum var tenuihypharum) that stimulates plant growth and productivity. Through a mutually beneficial symbiosis, mycorrhizae increase nutrient uptake and improve crop resilience, while enhancing soil quality. This proprietary strain, isolated from nature, is proven to thrive under conditions of high fertility and elevated electrical conductivity.
A VERSATILE SPECIES
Not all mycorrhizae produce consistent results under conventional crop production. Fertilizers, notably phosphorus, suppress colonization and growth of Glomus mosseae and Glomus intraradices, which are found in most commercial mycorrhizae products. This contradiction is a problem for intensive agriculture. Cultured from a saline (salty) environment, the fungi in Synergy™ are adapted to fertilizer solutions and high electrical conductivity.
Research has shown increased yield in crops inoculated with the strain of Glomus iranicum in Synergy. In containers trials, G. iranicum produced three times more mycelium compared to G mosseae and two times more than G intraradices after 75 days of growth. Plants also had higher wet and dry weights for leaves and flowers.
Other studies showed enhanced salt tolerance, higher photosynthetic activity, and increased yield of lettuce grown with Glomus iranicum. A two-year study on grapes revealed improved phosphorus and potassium nutrition, higher yield, improved fruit quality and enhanced drought tolerance.
Rapid mycelial growth and high rates of root colonization are key characteristics of Glomus iranicum. Spores are smaller than other commercial mycorrhizae, permitting production of an ultra-fine powder that suspends in water and won’t clog drip irrigation lines. Synergy easily penetrates growing media, ensuring root contact for rapid colonization.
