Yes, this doesn't really 'adapt' much - it'll turn a 19mm Female joint into a 19mm Female joint, or a 19mm Male Joint into a 19mm Male Joint - so it keeps the joint the same, it is intended to simply allow for some spacing for example to prevent excessive heat from damaging the joint on your more valuable water-pipe, acting as 'sacrificially' in case of any damage (or providing space for whatever other reason you might have for desiring some).
